These photographs are a collection of work completed over the past decade. Loosely broken into three categories; Engage, Observe, Contemplate, each defining interaction between viewer and subject. Otherwise, the images placed randomly. Some were pieces of larger artistic themes, others part of specific projects, both political and social, while yet others were singular events. Keep this in mind as you browse the collection.
Think of the images as letters of the alphabet, in a Scrabble bag, which can be pulled out arranged to make a word, some replaced, and then rearranged to form new words. By cognitively rearranging these images, you might discover some of these themes or find new expressions. But taken as a whole, the collection is not devoid of an intrinsic motif. Each image is a fragment of the cultural landscape; allowing a glimpse at the traditions, heritage, or customs of diverse peoples. Together they expose aspects of society’s dual nature; poverty vs. wealth, nature vs. urbanism, civilization vs isolation or aid vs suffering amongst others. And, maybe, a touch of enlightenment to its viewers.
