Here’s the update from my experiment. The Puppy title increased unique visitors by 40% and page views increased by 29%. Of course, this doesn’t say all that much beyond my Facebook / Twitter group or even within that group. They may more interested in puppies than photography. Or more interested in puppies than my past blog posts. Facebook may have had fewer posts that day which allowed the post to gain more attention. But maybe it was a bad time for a post and the results should have been higher. Polls and data like this (which is really what we see from most online polls) really have no value without controls that can cancel out these other variables. So, in the end, the only real question is: What would happen if the blog title included kittens?
